  • This is a school-engagement metric, not a personal analytics view for the parent

Elite Tier — AI Features

Elite Only

WhatsApp Menu Commands + AI Fallback

  • Structured commands are menu/keyword-driven, not NLP: numeric menu (1=notices, 2=fees, 3=attendance, 7=consents) plus keyword triggers (hi/hello/menu)
  • Free-text messages that don't match any menu command fall through to handleAiFallback() — a Gemini-backed answer grounded in a live student snapshot
  • AI fallback is gated to Elite-tier schools with GEMINI_API_KEY configured; otherwise falls back to a canned 'type hi or menu' prompt
  • This is shared infrastructure with Chapter 15's Communication AI Suite, not a parent-module-only feature

AI Translation Engine (Chapter 15)

  • POST /api/communication-ai/translate — shared translation engine documented fully in Chapter 15
  • Real-time messages and on-demand notice translation auto-translate when sender/receiver preferredLanguage differ
  • Supported languages include English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati

AI Parent Assistant (Chapter 15)

  • POST /api/communication-ai/parent-assistant — this is the same feature documented in Chapter 15's AI Communication Suite, not a separate parent-module backend
  • Web UI: /dashboard/parent/ai-assistant · Mobile: (parent)/ai-assistant.tsx — both explicitly code-commented as the Chapter 15 AI Communication Suite feature
  • Personalised, live-data-grounded answers about a child's attendance, fees, and recent notices — never invents figures

Security & Access Control

  • All parent routes protected by JWT + protect + checkSubscriptionAccess middleware
  • Per-route role guards vary: most allow parent (some also admin for support access); /analytics is admin/super_admin only
  • isLinkedParent(req, studentId) helper enforces parent → child ownership on every child-scoped request
  • Parents cannot view other students' data under any circumstance
  • Document uploads go into Pending state; admin must verify
  • Audit log written on every leave request and document submission
  • WhatsApp identity resolved by registered mobile number only
  • OTP-based mobile login with time-limited codes
