API Reference
All routes below are mounted at /api/students (studentLifecycleRoutes.js), behind protect + checkSubscriptionAccess. A separate legacy path,/api/admin/add-student and /api/admin/bulk-add-students (mounted at /api/student-management), handles initial account creation and bulk enrollment — the lifecycle routes below manage the student after admission.

Features
Student State Machine & NexusOne ID
Basic- Permanent NexusOne Student ID: NX-STU-000001, generated once via a NexusIdCounter and never changes across promotions/transfers
- Lifecycle states (User.status enum): applicant → enrolled → active → promoted → transferred → graduated → alumni, plus withdrawn, suspended, and detained branch states
- One-action lifecycle transitions: Promote, Transfer, Withdraw, Graduate, Convert to Alumni — each is a dedicated POST endpoint
- Bulk promotion for entire class sections with one action
- Sibling linking via a dedicated endpoint, separate from initial admission
- Transfer Certificate (TC) generation with TC number, issued date, destination school
Student Profile & Admissions
Basic- Comprehensive admission form: Personal, Academic, Address & Contact, Medical, Parent Linking
- Auto-generated admission number and roll number assignment
- Class, section, academic year, campus, and house assignment
- Blood group, nationality, religion, category (General/OBC/SC/ST/EWS)
- Sibling linking and multi-parent association

Medical Information
Basic- Allergy and chronic condition tracking

Document Vault
Basic- Secure upload for: Birth Certificate, Transfer Certificate, Aadhaar, Passport, Address Proof, Medical Records, Photographs
- Document versioning — keep full upload history
- Admin verification workflow: Pending → Verified (with verified-by tracking)
- File metadata: MIME type, file size, public URL
- Custom document type support
Student Timeline
Basic- Chronological event feed covering entire school journey
- Event types: Admission, Promotion, Award, Disciplinary Action, Transfer, Medical Event, Certificate, Achievement, Club Join, Status Change
- Custom timeline events with title, description, metadata
- Visibility control per event (staff-only vs student-visible)
- Recorded-by tracking for audit trail
Discipline Records
Basic- Incident types: Warning, Incident, Suspension, Fine, Counseling Referral
- Severity levels: Low, Medium, High
- Action taken and resolution tracking
- Status lifecycle: Open → Resolved → Closed
- Visibility controls (admin-only or shared with parent/student)
- Date-indexed history per student
Achievements
Basic- Categories: Academic, Sports, Competition, Leadership, Activity, Community Service, Cultural, Other
- Rank / position tracking and awarding authority
- Certificate URL attachment

Growth Passport
Basic- Lifelong portfolio — one document per student, grows across years

- Last-updated-by tracking for accountability
Leave Requests
Basic- Leave types: Medical, Personal, Emergency, Sports, School Activity, Other
- Multi-day leave with from/to date range
- Supporting document upload (e.g. medical certificate)
- Admin approval workflow: Pending → Approved / Rejected
- Reviewer remarks and attendance auto-update flag
- Parent-initiated or admin-initiated leave requests
Student Analytics
Basic- Lifecycle status breakdown: Active, Enrolled, Promoted, Transferred, etc.
- New admissions trend (last 6 months)
